Dan Grading - September 2009

Congratulations to the six who graded on Saturday 5th September. Dan testings are never easy with the panel putting everyone through their paces…… It was quite a mixed group this time round, with Dennis Hill obtaining his 3rd Dan. Pam Cummings, Charlotte Pugh and Sadie McCombe on obtaining their 2nd Dan. Finally but by no means least Shelly Butler and Anne-Marie Alexander on obtaining their 1st Dans.

Sah Bum Nim Lee Sutcliffe did an excellent job of conducting, making sure everyone felt at ease, well as much as you can do under these circumstances! It did appear to be a much more relaxed grading than normal, however everyone still worked hard and tried their best.

Dennis did well, being picked up only on a few minor things….but being an Instructor he was watched like a hawk. So fair play! Pam did struggle with her hips, not surprisingly, after having two hip replacements, so it was good to see her back giving it some Wellie! Charlotte’s forms are always a pleasure to watch, but even more so, especially after she took Master Ward’s advise to put a bit more “Zing” into them. Shelly struggled a little bit on her combinations, which she admitted was her weak point. Her forms looked pretty good after getting the GgRrrrr factor, and she bombed through the one-steps. Sadie, as always showed plenty of spirit, so we felt sorry for Alex who was on the receiving end of her techniques during the one-steps. Anne-Marie kept her head down, and did a reasonable job not getting pulled up on to much. Again, Well done Guys on a good grading…..well deserved!

Thanks again to all those Black Belts who attended to give moral support, and to assist during the grading, it is greatly appreciated.
