Seats were placed around tables, Buffet and table cloths laid out, with midnight blue & silver balloons suspended from silver stars adorning the tables.
The stage was set for the start of the Awards…
Entering the venue, it was great to see so many people already there...the atmosphere was buzzing in anticipation of the evenings events. All the ladies looked elegant dressed up, as did the Gentlemen in their black ties and tuxes.
Most people said they thoroughly enjoyed themselves, especially having the whole place to ourselves. We certainly kept the bar staff very busy…but they didn't complain, as they made a good profit!
The only criticism was that the venue itself was a bit small, and not everyone liked the split room, however personally I thought it best to have a quieter area so people could sit down and have a conversation without having to shout above the disco.
Once everyone had settled, after getting some nibbles from the buffet table - Master White started proceedings, reading out the first of the awards...
not realising there was a surprise in store for himself. After recently being awarded his 5th Dan, and having taken over the presidency of our Association, the instructors thought it appropriate for Master White to be presented with a sword to honour the event, and to express our thanks for all he has done.
It was quite an emotional night all in all, with lots of surprised faces picking up their awards. The rest is an alcoholic blur...with lots of dancing, and talking.
I for one am looking forward to the next awards night, we certainly know how to party!
