Burnham Gup Grading - 17th May 2008

There may only have been a small number of people grading at Burnham on Saturday 17th May 2008, but the quality did not diminish! It made for a cosy atmosphere – I’m not sure if those grading felt quite the same way?

After a short warm up by Sam Bum Nim Charlotte Pugh to settle the nerves, it was down to business as usual.

A Special Mention must go to Wendy and Matt Cox who did exceptionally well, with very strong techniques, but most importantly lots of spirit!

John may have struggled a bit with the combination work, not surprising really, as most of us do when we have more than 5 techniques to worry about! I was certainly impressed with John’s split kicks, almost as good as Sam Bum Nim Lee Sutcliffes’- who as we all know has springs attached to his feet! Great effort John!

After the grading there was a seminar on “Sei bong hyung” (a breathing form), which most of us haven’t practised for absolutely ages- so it was a god oppourtunity to try and get to grips with it again. Ben did really well, especially as a white belt trying out some of the harder techniques from a higher form.

Generally I think everyone enjoyed the grading, as always taking back constructive feed back on things to improve on.

Keep up the good work everyone!
