Gup Grading - 3rd May 2008

Congratulations to all those who graded at Elm Park on Saturday 3rd May 2008.
It’s a long time since we saw so many White belts and Orange belts at a grading! At the other end of the scale there were only a small group of senior belts. On the whole the quality of those grading was very high.

A few pointers to note for the higher grades: Individual techniques very strong and precise; however on two or more combinations there were a few short cuts creeping in! (All of us need to work on this including Black Belts) This is because you are thinking about what the next move is before finishing the first technique. It looks a bit sloppy, so make sure you finish each move correctly before starting the next technique. Think of the start and finish move for each individual technique.

A special mention must go to the Green belts, who did well on their combinations. You could tell they worked hard by the sweated brows and pink faces!

Tom Jolliffee - Cracking kick in sparring! Liam didn’t know what hit him! The moral of this story is – Never under estimate your opponents – especially when you are dealing with more than one adversary! Constantly be aware of your surroundings.

Obviously the black Belts know how hard you can all kick – you must be getting better, did you see how many it took to hold just one block?!

Keep up the good work everyone – see you at the next grading.
