Gup Grading - Saturday 7 February 2009

To all those who graded on Saturday 7th February 2009. Congratulations on your new belt promotions!

White Belts & Orange Belts…a good grading from you all, but marred a bit by some of you showing lack of etiquette when going in and out of the hall.

Remember to bow! This part of your training, so start reading your manuals….especially the part about respect and etiquette.

I'm sure your instructors will have told you…but a gentle reminder, if you are in dobok you do not sit on chairs…even when you have finished your grading.

Also at the end of a grading remember to stand up salute the flag. It's about showing your respect and loyalty to your art.

Well done to the Green Belts - you worked really hard, especially as the Dojang was so warm.
The examiners usually have to sit in cold conditions trying to do the marking….so they were happy!
Well sort of…..
Generally it was a good grading. We know It's difficult to give it your all when it's hot and humid as it saps your energy, but don't give up even though you feel absolutely exhausted. It's all about showing Indomitable spirit and determination to succeed!

Others could tell how much effort you put in from your red hot faces, and the heat wave hit that us as you came out through the doors!

Special mention must go to the Red Belts - who were given some very different style of combinations than they were used to, however they seemed to cope very well with the demands made of them.

A few pointers for everyone going up the ranks, regularly check your stances, especially front stances, and horse riding stances - you should just be able to feel your muscles aching. If not, you're not low enough!

Senior belts - Make sure you finish each move correctly before going on to the next, do not rush it other wise you lose technique for the sake of speed!

Constantly practise techniques already learned, you will then get quicker as you perfect them.

Continue to strive to be the best you can be - well done everyone!
