DTSD Seminar - 12 June 2008

For those that didn’t attend the Seminar on 12th June 2008 you missed out on a very special occasion…Master White was presented with his 5th Dan by Master Perks. We all know the hard work and dedication he has put into DTSD, without this type of commitment from Master White, and others giving their continued support, Dragon Tang Soo Do would not be able to continue to go from strength to strength. We would therefore like to thank him, and congratulate him on this well deserved achievement.

It was great to see the amount of people who attended the Seminar. No-one was disappointed, there was something for everyone….

After a quick Stretch of the muscles it was straight into Siebom Hyung (Breathing Form) which we haven’t practiced for quite a while. Well done to everyone for giving it a good go, especially the White Belts who would never have seen some of the more difficult moves.
Master Ward demonstrated defence from the ground using grappling techniques; various restraining techniques using Arm locks; & knife defence techniques.
Master Evans took everyone through their Hyungs, pointing out recent changes and correcting bad habits we had slipped into, and we know what a hard task master she is!
Master White put everyone through their paces giving combinations which made everyone think and use their brain cells. I lost count after about 12 combinations.
If that wasn’t enough, for those that remained, Master White took them through bowstaff hyungs and one-steps.

In closing, the feed back I got was very positive, with everyone enjoying themselves and taking away something they had learned from the Seminar. Some bits were more difficult to retain than others, but that’s what it’s all about, trying something new and keep on practising.
Personally, I can’t wait for the next Seminar and would like one on the bowstaff and other weapons. This would need a separate Seminar itself, as there is so much to cover. Let your Instructors know what you would like organised, and lets make it happen!
